At the Manatee County Land Use meeting on August 17, 2023, the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) voted 6-1 to transmit the proposed cutback to our wetland buffer requirements. Despite hours of testimony from qualified wetland scientists, engineers, fishermen, business owners, and the community, only one commissioner voted against this plan to gut our county's wetland protections.
